The Deep Breath Collage (for when everyone needs a break)

I call these my Deep Breath Collages because they require focus, but not too much, which allows my brain to gently sink into a peaceful artistic place without feeling any kind of pressure.  They really are perfect for the moment when things feel off, and you need something to make things more calm, peaceful, and regular again.

  1. Paint swatches of watercolor on white paper. Once the paint is dry, snip small rectangles of all shapes and sizes. The wonkier, the better.
  2.  Use thin, black art markers (I like Microns or Sharpies) to draw little designs, shapes, and things onto each tiny canvas.
  3. Once you have a stack of small drawings, arrange them on a white rectangle so they form a little geometric collage.
  4. Use a glue stick once you are happy with your creation.  Or, just keep re-arranging, and save the gluing for later when you are feeling more decisive.

It is interesting how, without much intention,  each collage ends up being a small reflection of the random things that are on my mind.  For example: Walnuts! Eye glasses! (see above). These are things I need to buy and figure out/deal with.

Collage in peace.
